European arm of a global pharmaceutical company – Logistics strategy and manufacturing
strategy
The client is headquartered in Belgium, serving markets throughout Europe from some
20 warehouses and 5 manufacturing plants. Wishing to curb the escalation of manufacturing
and logistics costs we were engaged to develop a more appropriate pan-European logistics
strategy, and a manufacturing strategy to re-focus factory usage in line with current
demand patterns. Computer simulation models were used to explore alternative scenarios
and identify savings amounting to some 18% of current cost levels.
